| Last Hurrah for The Sound of Music 60th Anniversary CelebrationsTickets are on sale at www.salzburger- A must-see event for every Sound of Music fan will be co-hosted by Nicholas Hammond who played Friedrich in the film, and Johannes von Trapp (real Maria's youngest son). Other original film cast members and Johannes' children Sam and Kristina will join. The Salzburg State Theatre, Salzburg's Mozarteum Orchestra and a 100-strong children's choir, will perform some of the original musical scenes, in between which cast members' will reminisce about Salzburg and its countryside during filming (Mar-Sept '64). Family members will also give insights into the von Trapps' true story. Other events open to the public include the Salzburg State Theatre's revival of The Sound of Music musical – selected dates in November and December (German with English surtitles; bookings at www.salzburger- -ends- NOTE to EDITORS: The Sound of Music film launched in the USA on 2 March 1965 and was released in the UK on 29 March the same year. It was adapted from the 1959 stage musical - composed by Richard Rodgers with lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II – created around Maria von Trapp's 1949 memoir The Story of the von Trapp Family Singers.
