Last Hurrah for The Sound of Music 60th Anniversary Celebrations

SALZBURG, Austria - July 23, 2025 - PRLog -- Salzburg city's 60^th anniversary celebrations of The Sound of Music culminate with The Sound of Music Gala on 23 October.

Tickets are on sale at www.salzburger-landestheater.at (€15 to €95 per person). Themed Salzburg and the World and set in the Felsenreitschule - an unusual theatre built into the rock of the Mönchsberg and the very venue where the von Trapps performed 'So Long, Farewell' before their escape.

A must-see event for every Sound of Music fan will be co-hosted by Nicholas Hammond who played Friedrich in the film, and Johannes von Trapp (real Maria's youngest son). Other original film cast members and Johannes' children Sam and Kristina will join.

The Salzburg State Theatre, Salzburg's Mozarteum Orchestra and a 100-strong children's choir, will perform some of the original musical scenes, in between which cast members' will reminisce about Salzburg and its countryside during filming (Mar-Sept '64). Family members will also give insights into the von Trapps' true story.
