Danieli Group: a 100-year-old global partner in the metal industry

LONDON - July 15, 2025 - PRLog -- It was 1914 when brothers Mario and Timo Danieli founded the company after the acquisition of the Angelini Steelworks in Brescia. In 1929, Mario Danieli decided to move the steelworks to Buttrio, headquarters of the company still to these days. In the beginning, Danieli Group manufactured small shears and anvils but when Luigi Danieli joined the company in 1960, the production extended to machinery for rebar rolling mills, then followed by complete rolling mills with a capacity of 140,000-150,000 tpy for minimills. In 1964, European steel industry pioneer Emilio Riva entrusted Danieli to build the first curved casting machine in Italy, which was successfully put into operation in the Riva's steel plant situated in Caronno Pertusella. As the company evolved, it specialized in the production of machines for the steel-making industry. Following the crisis that affected the steel sector in the second half of the 1970s, Danieli Group shifted its focus from the production of machines to the design and building of steel plants. The first result was a 500,000-ton steel plant in Brandenburg, former East Germany. In 1986, the company acquired Morgårdshammar, a Swedish group specializing on rolling plants for special steels and in 1991 it acquired Rotelec, a French engineering company operating in the steel sector. Over the years, Danieli Group has kept building its reputation worldwide as one of the most reliable suppliers of equipment and physical plants to the metal industry.
