Award-Winning Mystery Author Amethyst Drake Returns with Compelling New Mystery "Framed"

SHELBYVILLE, Ky. - July 13, 2025 - PRLog -- Acclaimed mystery author Amethyst Drake, winner of the prestigious indie B.R.A.G. Medallion for her debut novel The Scheme, returns with her highly anticipated new mystery Framed, available July 15 wherever books are sold.
Set in Baltimore's elite fine art world, Framed follows Katherine Carson, a former intelligence operative who has reinvented herself as a private detective eight years after leaving her dangerous past behind. When her best friend pleads with her to prove the innocence of Misty Vanderlin—accused of murdering her husband James—Katherine finds herself drawn into a web of deception where million-dollar paintings conceal deadly secrets.
"Katherine Carson represents the kind of complex, resilient character I love to write," said Drake. "She's someone who has experienced profound loss but refuses to let that define her limitations. In Framed, she faces not only external threats but must confront the shadows of her own past while fighting for justice."
The novel plunges readers into Baltimore's high-society art scene, where Katherine and her team uncover a labyrinth of old rivalries, secret affairs, and corporate espionage. As the FBI closes in and her client's life hangs in the balance, Katherine discovers that someone has orchestrated the perfect frame job—and they're willing to kill to protect their secrets.
Drake, who excels at crafting intricate character relationships and moral complexities, draws from her deep understanding of mental health and interpersonal dynamics to create a story that is both an engaging mystery and an exploration of resilience, loyalty, and the cost of truth.
Her debut novel The Scheme earned the distinguished B.R.A.G. Medallion, an honor that recognizes outstanding quality and impact on readers worldwide, placing it among an elite group of reader-recommended, independently published books.
A passionate storyteller with a lifelong love of mystery and suspense, Drake finds inspiration in classic detective and espionage dramas including "Murder, She Wrote," "Perry Mason," and "Mission: Impossible." Her writing blends her personal insights into mental health with the moral complexities that make human relationships endlessly fascinating.
"In a case where everyone has something to hide, the truth may be the most dangerous weapon of all," Drake notes about the central theme of Framed. "I wanted to explore how far people will go to protect their secrets, and what happens when someone like Katherine refuses to back down from finding the truth."
Framed is available in ebook and paperback formats wherever books are sold, including major retailers, independent bookstores, and online platforms.
