Clearwater Residents Educated on Societal Ills and Solutions at 4th of July Celebration

CLEARWATER, Fla. - July 10, 2025 - PRLog -- On Friday, July 4^th, 2025 at the Osceola Courtyard located in downtown Clearwater, the Church of Scientology-sponsored humanitarian centers (United for Human Rights, The Way to Happiness, Drug-Free World and Citizen's Commission on Human Rights) held their annual 4^th of July Celebration for the community. Attending families enjoyed activities such as a bouncy house, reptile petting zoo, face painting and arts & crafts, while also gaining tools to face common world issues such as human rights violations, drug abuse, degraded morals and psychiatric abuse of children.

From this event alone, over 200 residents were introduced to the humanitarian programs and what they do in the community. These programs aim to tackle everyday struggles that affect the community as a whole. For example, in 2023 nearly 2,100 cases of sex trafficking, 1,600 of which involving children, were reported in the state of Florida. United for Human Rights educates approximately 50,000 Florida residents on their human rights each year, one of which being #4 - No Slavery, to empower people to stand up for their rights.

"The Church of Scientology sponsors these worldwide, education-based humanitarian programs in order to help people overcome these problems in their communities," said Lisa Mansell, the Community Affairs Director for the Church in Clearwater. "Drug overdoses, human trafficking and violent crime happen everywhere in the world – they are not specific to one country or one race. We believe that if you have knowledge about something, you are much more able to confront and handle it."
