Hyderabad's Pride, Dr. D. Nageshwar Reddy, Receives Grand Felicitation from IMA North

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) Hyderabad North Branch celebrated its 5th IMATSCON and Doctor's Day in grand style on Wednesday night at Taj Deccan, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. The occasion featured the prestigious Dr. D. Nageshwar Reddy Endowment Oration and a distinguished felicitation ceremony for one of India's most revered medical legends.

The highlight of the evening was the heartfelt tribute to Padma Vibhushan Dr. D. Nageshwar Reddy, Chairman of AIG Hospitals. Widely recognized as the "Guru of World Gastroenterology," Dr. Reddy holds the unique distinction of being the first and only doctor in India to receive all three of the nation's highest civilian honors — the Padma Shri in 2002, Padma Bhushan in 2016, and Padma Vibhushan in 2025. The gathering of distinguished doctors, healthcare leaders, and well-wishers celebrated his extraordinary contributions to the field of gastroenterology and medical science, and honored his lifelong dedication to ethical, evidence-based care and medical innovation.

The evening also featured an insightful and timely oration by Padma Shri Dr. Randeep Guleria, former Director of AIIMS, New Delhi, who served as the Guest Orator. Dr. Guleria delivered a compelling address on the topic "Air Pollution: One Health," highlighting the wide-ranging impact of air pollution not only on human health, but also on animals, plants, and food ecosystems. His speech emphasized the importance of viewing health through an integrated lens, rooted in the global "One Health" and "Environment and One Health" frameworks. In a meaningful gesture, Dr. D. Nageshwar Reddy personally presented the oration medal to Dr. Guleria in recognition of his profound and thought-provoking message.
