Why is the United Bank of Africa in Nigeria denying me access to my account?By: Chike In the battle to access my account, I have spoken to numerous staff members, exchanged countless emails, provided several documents, and submitted multiple signatures. Their excuses for denying me access know no boundaries. Oh! Your signature doesn't quite match. Oh! A senior team member will be in touch with you tomorrow. Oh! Give us forty-eight hours. Sorry, our email service is currently unavailable. How would my signature of today match perfectly with my signature of ten years ago? No one has the same fingers, muscles, nerves, brains, and coordination they had 10 years ago. Is there no other way of verifying ownership if one criterion falls short? UBA staff have talked to me, recorded me, and videoed me. They have received copies of two forms of ID, and yet they continue to deny me access to my account. When you hear of a Nigerian banker becoming a billionaire or a trillionaire, some of them accumulate their wealth by exploiting customers and separating them from their money. Think about it. Assuming UBA-Nigeria succeeds in seizing the little Naira that I have in the account, and enamored by their success, they play the same game to 1000 people, the mastermind behind the scheme--- believe me, there is always a fat cat with an enormous belly behind all these chacha plays---- would get away with hundreds of millions of Naira, if not billions. Over the years, that fat cat, despite his massive belly, could pole vault to the trillion-naira mark. Another Odogwu made. Ndi Oshi! If you have similar experiences such as mine, please share it. Every day, a different UBA-Nigeria staff member is on my case. What a game they play. It is Esther on Monday, Jonah on Tuesday, Simon on Wednesday, and Deborah on Friday. Each Staff would introduce themselves as the real deal, the expert who would solve the problem, then Vroom! They vanish. UBA staff don't appear to keep track of submitted documents. They would demand the resubmission of the same documents. It is truly shameful. Is this crap the standard way banks operate in Nigeria, or is this level of customer oppression unique to the United Bank of Africa-- Nigeria? Please do not fall for the term 'diaspora' that they attach to their email. Either these people hate diasporans, or they think Nigerians living abroad are fools. I will keep you updated. End End
