By: Barcelona Festival of Song 21st edition from July 3 to 12, offering an inspiring concert series that bridges cultures, languages, and identities through Latin American and Iberian art song. Under the theme "Songs that Connect Worlds", the festival presents a vibrant program of works in Spanish, Portuguese, and Catalan, performed by international artists. At the heart of the festival is its academic program: an intensive Course on the History and Interpretation of Latin American and Iberian Art Song. This course, central to the festival's mission, is dedicated to professional classical singers, collaborative pianists, and musicologists from around the world who gather in Barcelona to explore this rich, beautiful, and valuable repertoire — a repertoire that remains underrepresented on international stages and in academic training. The course offers participants a unique opportunity to study art songs in Spanish, Catalan, and Portuguese, combining historical, cultural, and interpretative perspectives.
Directed by soprano and musicologist Patricia Caicedo, the BFOS has established itself as the world's leading space for the study, performance, and dissemination of Latin American and Iberian art song. For over two decades, it has empowered a global community of musicians to bring this important repertoire to the stage and the classroom.
