Follow on Google News | ![]() NYC Bagpipes to Make Debut Visit to ScotlandBy: NYC Bagpipes Due to the significance of the Highland Bagpipe in Scottish history, Cristopher Rodriguez intends to visit special places of note. On August 12th he will complete in the Piping Live! 2025 – CLASP World Amateur Solo Piping Competition in Grade 2. He also plans to attend the Dunvegan Medal contest, which is a high level bagpipe competition. He also will visit Borreaig, which is where the MacCrimmon piping school was located, and the MacCrimmon Cairn. The MacCrimmon family was a dynasty of famous bagpipers from several hundreds of years ago. There are also other important events that he will attend. The Piping Live! events will be held in Glasgow, which is a week long festival featuring bagpipe events in preperation for the World Pipe Band Championship. Amongst those events are the International Quartet Competition and Grade 1 Pipe Band concert. In Glasgow, he will attend the National Piping Center, which has a bagpipe museum and has dedicated itself to the preservation of the teaching of the highland bagpipe. In Edinoboro he will attend the Edinboro Tattoo, which features hundreads of bagpipers performing at Edinboro Castle. He will also be competing with the St. Anthony's Celtic Friars Pipe Band at the European Pipe Band Championships, which is the weekend before World Pipe Band Champsionship. The European Champsionship has become a popuar contest, espcially for foreigners, to prep for "the Worlds." The trip will mark an important milestone in his bagpipe career.
