Los Angeles Design Festival Announces 2025 Event Highlights

LOS ANGELES - June 3, 2025 - PRLog -- The Los Angeles Design Festival (LADF) returns June 26-29, 2025 with a citywide celebration of community, creativity, and inspiring design. This year's theme, "Design Futurism," is a solution-oriented exploration of human potential. When envisioning the future, design is inherently a part of our collective imagination: a tool for reimagining how we connect, create, and challenge existing narratives. This concept expands beyond the exploration of technological spectacle. This year, LADF invites all to explore Design Futurism through various lenses of our collective human experiences.

Founded in 2011, LADF is the only biennial, multidisciplinary design festival in Los Angeles. It transforms spaces across the city—from studios and rooftops to galleries and sidewalks—into stages for bold ideas. Through workshops, installations, tours, and block parties, LADF invites everyone to engage directly with design.

This year's programming is organized into four tracks:

• L.A. Forever – Co-curated with Frances Anderton, exploring design for resilience in a city shaped by disaster and reinvention.
• Revenge of Analog – Celebrating tactile, slow creativity in a digital world.
• The Ancestors Have Answers – Uplifting Indigenous wisdom and ancestral knowledge as design imperatives.
• We Can See the Future – Curated with Radha Mistry and Ronni Kimm, exploring design's role in shaping equitable, resilient systems.

The festival kicks off Wednesday, June 25, with a tandem awards gala. The inaugural NeueHouse Design Awards, presented with Shinola, LADF, and media partner Cool Hunting, honors innovation rooted in aesthetics and functionality. Submissions close June 13.

That evening, LADF also presents the 2025 LADF Design Awards, recognizing designers whose practices center cultural vibrancy, equity, and experimentation.

Thursday, June 26, spotlights emerging talent with programs for students, self-taught creatives, and career changers. At ArtCenter in Pasadena, the L.A. Forever Hackathon begins a four-day sprint to develop tools for community resilience.

Friday, June 27 features citywide studio tours and block parties at Helms Design District, ROW DTLA, and Long Beach Design District.

On Saturday and Sunday, June 28–29, the festival dives deeper into Design Futurism. At ROW DTLA, a showcase explores speculative design futures. In Culver City, the Southern California chapter of NOMA leads a symposium on rebuilding Los Angeles. Highlights include:

• CSULB's Immersive Design Research Lab open house.
• A speculative food systems installation by Kevin Sherrod at the historic Acres of Books building.
• Kevin Bethune's Nonlinear book launch and talk.
• Studio tours from the Arts District to Long Beach.
• A Design Dinner at Chez Bacchas, curated by designer James Tir.
