SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - May 6, 2025 - PRLog -- The Independent Glass Association (IGA) is proud to announce that its members and Board of Directors have officially approved the addition of a new membership category: Industry Ally. This newly created tier is specifically designed for non-independent auto glass companies who wish to support the industry and participate in limited IGA initiatives without compromising the Association's core mission of empowering independently owned glass businesses.

The decision, finalized through a membership-wide vote that closed on May 1, 2025, reflects a forward-looking strategy to build cooperation across the automotive glass sector while safeguarding the integrity and representation of independent shops.

"This is a strategic move to strengthen the IGA and unite the industry on issues that matter to everyone," said Gary Hart, Executive Director of the IGA. "The Industry Ally program gives larger, corporate-affiliated shops an opportunity to support advocacy, education, and safety standards without influencing governance or policy decisions meant to serve independent businesses."

Key Details of the Industry Ally Membership:
  • No Voting Rights: Industry Allies may attend select events and access limited resources but cannot vote on association matters or hold board seats.
  • Clearly Distinct Status: Industry Allies are publicly designated as such in all communications and directories to preserve transparency.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Industry Allies may contribute to technical knowledge-sharing, workforce training, and industry-wide safety initiatives.
  • Premium Membership Rate: Designed to ensure value contribution without diluting the mission of the IGA.

By allowing limited participation from non-independent shops, the IGA seeks to encourage open dialogue, foster mutual respect, and collaborate on solutions to shared challenges such as calibration standards, parts quality, and insurance-related issues.

"The IGA has always stood for fairness and integrity in the industry," Hart added. "This move does not change our DNA. It enhances our reach, our resources, and our ability to fight for what's right—together."

The IGA's decision is a landmark moment as it celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2025, underscoring its continued evolution and commitment to serve as the voice of the independent auto glass community—while engaging constructively with the broader industry landscape.
