Run Cancer Out of Town: Join the Icla da Silva Foundation for a 5K Run/Walk in Plano, TX

Help Raise Funds and Awareness for Patients Battling Blood Cancer and Sickle Cell Disease
By: The Icla da Silva Foundation

DALLAS - May 2, 2025 - PRLog -- The Icla da Silva Foundation invites you to make every step count in the fight against cancer at our 5K. The community-focused run/walk takes place on Friday, July 12, 2025, at 8 AM at Windhaven Meadows Park in Plano, Texas. This uplifting event brings together local runners, families, and supporters in an inspiring show of solidarity for patients with life-threatening blood disorders.

This 5K isn't just about crossing the finish line, it's about helping patients who are struggling to reach theirs. All proceeds from the event will support low-income patients in need of a bone marrow transplant, as they face enormous financial and emotional obstacles on their path to treatment.

A Race with a Purpose
Every year, thousands of patients in the U.S. are diagnosed with diseases that can only be cured with a bone marrow or stem cell transplant. These include leukemia, lymphoma, aplastic anemia, and sickle cell disease. Yet patients from underserved communities often lack the resources to access treatment.

"It's heartbreaking," says Airam da Silva, President of the Icla da Silva Foundation. "Patients face months of intense treatment, often far from home. Caregivers have to stop working. Families struggle just to pay for gas, housing, and meals. Our 5K is about removing those barriers so patients can focus on treatment."

Since 2022, the Icla da Silva Foundation has supported over 1,700 patients and provided more than $1 million in direct support to families in need. The Plano 5K is one of several events nationwide aimed at bringing communities together to raise both funds and awareness.

What to Expect at the Plano 5K
This family-friendly event is open to runners and walkers of all skill levels.

Participants can look forward to:
Music and post-race snacks
Finisher medals for the top 3 male/female runners across multiple age groups

Every step you take will help someone get closer to survival.
