| Fitness For Food Launches in Brooklyn: Turning Community Workouts into a Movement to End HungerBy: Fitness For Food Bryan Balasubramanian Founder, Fitness For Food Email: Bryan@fitnessforfood.org Website: www.fitnessforfood.org Brooklyn is getting stronger—and so is its community. Today marks the official launch of Fitness For Food, a game-changing nonprofit that blends fitness, food justice, and community action. Founded by wellness leader and public health advocate Bryan Balasubramanian, Fitness For Food offers free community workouts where the only cost of entry is a non-perishable food donation. Each high-energy event invites New Yorkers to show up, move together, and give back—all while supporting local food pantries and shelters. No sign-up fees. No gym contracts. Just movement with meaning. "You can't focus on wellness if you're hungry, and you can't build strength in isolation," said Balasubramanian. "Fitness For Food is about showing up for each other—physically, emotionally, and socially. We sweat with purpose." The first event kicks off Sunday, May 4 in Prospect Park with a unique "speakeasy-style" Fitness For Food isn't just a weekend workout—it's a movement. Future plans include youth outreach, wellness workshops in public housing, and fitness pop-ups in barbershops, schools, and community centers. To register for an upcoming event, donate, or join the movement, visit www.fitnessforfood.org or follow @BKbadass on Instagram. We're not just lifting weights. We're lifting our community.
