A new boutique home video label announced that will focus on South Asian cinema

LONDON - Jan. 22, 2025 - PRLog -- In an exciting development for film fans around the world, UK-based film programmers Ranjit S. Ruprai and Omar Ahmed proudly announce the upcoming launch of The Cloud Door, a boutique home video label and film licensing service. Taking its title from one of Mani Kaul's short films, The Cloud Door will be a portal to the rich and diverse world of South Asian cinema. Not only will this new label fill the gap left by many home video labels that continually overlook film titles from South Asia, but it will also unlock such films for easier cinema exhibition through strategic partnerships with film archives.

The Cloud Door's line-up will be expertly curated, and which will be selected for its artistic and cultural significance. Film fans around the world will finally get a chance to own many of these films in high definition and loaded with extras.

The first title for the launch of the label will be director Kamal Swaroop's Om Dar-B-Dar, one of Indian cinema's most influential cult films of the modern era.
