Center for Common Ground Launches Democracy Center in Charlotte, NC

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Dec. 5, 2024 - PRLog -- The Center for Common Ground, a nonpartisan voting rights organization, has launched its second North Carolina Democracy Center in Charlotte. This initiative is dedicated to empowering underserved and marginalized communities in the area. Community leader Brandon Rivers will serve as the center's director.

Democracy Centers are focused on increasing engagement in elections by showing people that their voices matter, not just their votes. The centers focus on mobilizing voters and the issues impacting the community, working year-round to address them. The Charlotte Center will focus on various issues facing community members, such as creating pathways to financial stability, advocating for criminal justice reform, and prioritizing voting education and civic engagement to ensure Charlotteans are informed and can hold elected officials accountable.

Rooted in Charlotte's rich history, we address systemic issues such as racial injustice, economic inequality, healthcare disparities, educational inequity, and the need for criminal justice reform," said Brandon. "By amplifying the voices of the underserved, we strive to build a just, inclusive Charlotte where every person can thrive and the city's cultural heritage is preserved for future generations."
