PRLog -- On a sunny Sunday, a cyclist's bike gets stolen due to a lack of bike stands. This is a common issue in Germany. Japan offers a solution with Eco Cycle, an automated underground bike garage by Giken. Cyclists leave their bikes at a collection point, and the system parks them underground, keeping the cityscape unchanged.
The Eco Cycle, an automated underground bike garage in Japan, parks bicycles fully automatically. Cyclists place their bikes on a rail for contact-free check-in. A gripper pulls the bike into a station, which then descends up to 16 meters and rotates to park the bike in one of 200 racks. The entire process takes about 13 seconds and is currently in use in 63 locations across 26 cities in Japan.
The Eco Cycle's automated bike parking system relies on igus energy chains to ensure reliability and protect lift cables, withstanding up to 4.5 million operating cycles. While the system offers ample parking and maintains the cityscape, it depends on the machine's reliability. Giken uses robust and durable energy chains from igus to prevent malfunctions and ensure smooth operation, enhancing the system's cost-effectiveness and safety.
