Follow on Google News | Project: Humanity Hosts Event For Homeless Youth Awareness MonthThe 7-hour digital "drop-in" will feature company founders, prominent artists and youth
By: www.projecthumanity.ca The Drop-In takes place on November 13th from 10:30am-5:30pm EST and will be broadcast online (Facebook, Instagram, Youtube) for the public. It will feature live interviews, clips from our 15 years of community work, and performances by prominent affiliated artists like Peter Katz, Sarah Lazar and Khari Wendell McClelland. The event aims to celebrate the impact of our work with youth-on-the- "The sensitive nature of our work in the shelters means it isn't making headlines." says Executive Director Dan Chapman-Smith "The 9 shelters we partner with in the GTA is where we make our biggest impact and where the majority of our time and energy goes. And we want people to get to know this work better, how it's changing lives." This event comes at an unfortunate moment for youth in Toronto given that SKETCH Working Arts, a community arts enterprise working with young artists and arts leaders on-the-margins aged 16-29, has shuttered its doors after 27 years. The Drop-In Live Broadcast Line Up Will Be As Follows: 10:30-11:30 - A conversation with leaders of homeless shelters in Toronto, moderated by Project: Humanity's Executive Director Daniel Chapman-Smith 11:30-12:00 - A reading of the award-winning "The Middle Place" read by youth and staff from our partner organization Youth Without Shelter – a play created from interviews in the shelter. 10:30-11:30 - A conversation with the founders and leaders of Project: Humanity, including Artistic Director, award winning playwright and director, and 2023 Canadian Artist-of-the- 2:00-3:00 - A conversation with leaders in Toronto's about the health of our nonprofit sector, featuring international consultant Brian Loevner 3:30-5:30 - An artist celebration showcasing the artistic work of our youth and artist mentors and facilitators featuring acclaimed musicians Khari Wendell McClelland (CBC and Project: Humanity's Freedom Singer) and Peter Katz (Juno Nominee and CBC Galaxie Rising Star) For more information on The Drop-In Event or on Project: Humanity please contact Communications Director Sarah Illiatovitch- To tune in on November 13: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@ End
