Sportsnaut's Sizzle Meter Week 8: Nfl Coaches On The Hot Seat

While Robert Saleh of the New York Jets was the first to go, other names are rising on the Sportsnaut Sizzle Meter, with firings likely before the season's end. Which coach is next?

NEW YORK - Oct. 23, 2024 - PRLog -- With the NFL season in full swing, tension is mounting for several head coaches whose teams have failed to meet expectations. As the Sizzle Meter hits its peak, five head coaches have emerged as the most likely candidates to face the axe before the 2024 season concludes.

Doug Pederson: Jacksonville Jaguars Head Coach – ON FIRE
The Jaguars are stuck in reverse, with Pederson unable to steer Trevor Lawrence back to success. Pederson's position seems untenable with declining offensive metrics and a 3-10 record since last December.

Brian Daboll: New York Giants Head Coach – ON FIRE
Despite brief glimpses of improvement, Daboll's Giants remain one of the worst offenses in the league. Daboll is running out of time to save his job with a dismal 17-23-1 record and locker room reports of dysfunction and toxicity. Feuds within his coaching staff and player regression, particularly in quarterback Daniel Jones, signal that Daboll's tenure with the Giants may be over soon.

Dennis Allen: New Orleans Saints Head Coach – TOASTY
A strong start to the season gave Allen hope, but five straight losses have brought the Saints crashing back to reality. As a defensive specialist, Allen's inability to maintain a strong defense has been especially damning, with opponents averaging over 210 rushing yards per game in recent weeks.

Antonio Pierce: Las Vegas Raiders Head Coach – TOASTY
Despite being a fan favorite last season, Pierce finds it difficult to prove his worth as a head coach in 2024. The Raiders' high turnover rates, penalty issues, and uninspired offensive play-calling point to an underprepared coaching staff. Pierce's could be numbered with former NFL great Tom Brady, who is now an owner and perhaps prepared to be heavily involved in 2025.

Nick Sirianni: Philadelphia Eagles Head Coach – ON FIRE
Though the Eagles are winning, Sirianni has become a figurehead in his own organization, with coordinators running both the offense and defense. His clashes with quarterback Jalen Hurts and odd media moments pressure the franchise to reconsider his position if the Eagles don't make a deep playoff run.
