Jones Receives 'Champion of Georgia's Cities' Award

ATLANTA - Oct. 15, 2024 - PRLog -- Rep. Jan Jones (R-Milton) received a 2024 "Champion of Georgia's Cities Award" from the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA). The award, which is given at the end of every two-year legislative term to state legislators who actively support major GMA initiatives and goals, was presented to Jones on October 7th in Milton.

Rep. Jones, who also serves as the Speaker Pro Tem of the House of Representatives, is a key leader in the Georgia General Assembly. During the 2023 and 2024 sessions of the General Assembly, Speaker Pro Tem Jones worked closely with GMA to protect the interests of Georgia's cities. In particular, her leadership was critical in GMA's ability to stop legislative attempts to remove local control from communities across the state. Georgia cities thrive when residents have control of the future of their individual communities through their locally elected decision makers. Speaker Pro Tem Jones heard and responded to the concerns of GMA and city officials about bills that preempted local zoning and planning authority.
