Follow on Google News | 2-Time Emmy Nominee Matt Paxton To Share Stories & "Stuff" With San Diego SeniorsPlus a Resource Fair for Older Adults, Families of Aging Parents, and Caregivers
"I've been cleaning houses for almost 25 years, and I found there are a lot of really cool stories behind all that stuff. The reason people couldn't let go of their stuff was that they didn't tell the stories," said Paxton. The event will focus on the power of our stories and include a presentation from Paxton as well as an interactive story-sharing session during which attendees will be selected at random to join the stage and discuss the stories behind their own objects. "Objects won't jump into piles magically: recycle, donate, discard, re-home, repair, memorabilia, and photos. There's no magic decluttering app or secret pile sorter. Standing between you and your goals are a lot of 'what ifs' and 'I remember when'. Let's talk about that," said Paxton. Members of the San Diego Chapter of the National Aging in Place Council will also be in attendance, sharing local resources that assist older adults with aging-in-place issues – including in-home care, move management, decluttering assistance, realtor services, advisory services, home maintenance services, home modifications and remodelers, reverse mortgage funding options, and healthcare. The morning agenda is as follows: 9:30 AM - 10:00 AM: Resource Fair 10:00 AM - 10:45 AM: Matt Paxton: How to Share Your legacy 10:45 AM - 11:30 AM: Break & Resource Fair 11:30 AM - 12:00 PM: Show and Tell with Matt Paxton (on stage) Reserve your free ticket at: http://shareyourlegacysd.com/ Members of the press interested in setting up interviews or covering the event are encouraged to contact Bryan Devore at (760) 908-3838.
