The Women's Orchestra of Arizona is thrilled to invite you to "The Green Muse - Celtic in Concert," a captivating free concert on September 29, 2024. Under the baton of Cindy H. Petty, Associate Conductor, this concert promises to be a journey through the rich and evocative landscapes of Celtic-inspired orchestral music.

The program opens with Ina Boyle's Symphony No. 1 'Glencree,' a work composed in 1927, which beautifully captures the essence of the Hills of County Wicklow in Ireland. Next, the orchestra will perform Joan Trimble's Suite for Strings, a piece known for its delightful melodies and distinct Irish character.

The highlight of the afternoon will be the American premiere of John Glenesk Mortimer's St. Andrew Concerto, a dynamic and engaging work dedicated to the St. Andrew Orchestra of Edinburgh, Scotland's oldest amateur orchestra. Mortimer, who conducted the St. Andrew Orchestra for 17 years, brings his expertise and passion for Celtic music to this exciting new piece, which is sure to leave the audience spellbound.
