By: Columbia Friends Held on the anniversary of the first atomic bomb release in Hiroshima, Japan, this event serves as a poignant reminder of the devastating consequences of nuclear warfare. It aims to educate attendees about the ongoing threat of nuclear weapons and inspire action towards a more peaceful world. Featured artist Miho Kinnas, a Japanese poet and 2023 Pushcart Prize nominee, will perform at the event. Kinnas's poem "Three Shrimp Boats On The Horizon" was selected for Best American Poetry 2023. "Poetry and lyric verse play a crucial role in this remembrance, offering a powerful medium to express complex emotions and inspire empathy," says event organizer Sallie Prugh.
