Washington Writer Launches First YA Novel

SEATTLE - June 26, 2024 - PRLog -- Ghost writers are rarely seen or heard in the book industry, but not so in the launching of the YA book, "Ryan's Last Wish." Sally Marks, a winter visitor in Quilcene with ties to Port Townsend and Port Angeles, was commissioned by J.M. Chrismer to create a novel about a young boy who works to fulfill his father's last wish.

The story begins in October of 2005 and outlines how Max struggles with the void of growing up without a dad. His father, Ryan, died when Max was a baby. But there is one ray of hope. Every year on his birthday, he receives a video from his father with a pre-recorded message where Ryan outlines adventures and advice for his son to help him through that year of his life. On his 13^th birthday, Max receives a shock. This will be the last video he will receive from his father. Not only that, Ryan has a secret, dying wish. And it requires a mission that only Max can fulfill.

"J.M. not only had a great idea for the story and characters, she was adamant that I receive writing credit for the book," said Marks, a local writer, speaker and public relations specialist. "I think the story is one that will resonate with readers of all ages. I am truly honored to be a part of this project."

Marks retired as the public relations specialist in 2020, but has continued to work on scripts, books, speeches and public relations material for clients, as well as her own comedy-writing projects. Her comedy efforts have recently included open mic performances at the Old Alcohol Plant Inn, 310 Hadlock Bay Road in Port Hadlock.
