Christ's Church at Moore Square Celebrates National Unity Weekend Through "Street Care"

RALEIGH, N.C. - June 7, 2024 - PRLog -- As National Unity Weekend kicks off, Christ's Church at Moore Square testifies to the benefit of "street care" and how faith in Jesus removes racial barriers. Held each year on the second weekend of June, National Unity Weekend unites houses of worship across the nation in fostering racial healing and serving the underserved.

Where Faith Meets Practical Care - This year, Christ's Church at Moore Square isn't just celebrating National Unity Weekend; they're inviting thousands to join them in reaching out to those in need.

Meeting People Where They Are -  Team Jesus member Eddie Jones says, "At Christ's Church at Moore Square, we believe in listening to those we meet who are struggling. Even more importantly we listen to the Holy Spirit's prompting. We want those on the street to know and believe that Jesus is the way into abundant living.  We learn names, write down needs, and pray daily for those we meet.  All our work starts with faith in God's goodness."

Team Jesus in Action - Team Jesus hands out essential items like sandwiches, chips, cookies, and water.  Over the past two weeks David, William, and Tremain received new sneakers. Larry and Ruth received wash rags and bath towels. Leon will pick up his new work boots this Sunday. Currently, Charlie needs a new duffle bag, William a package of men's boxers (size L), and Stephanie's young child could use a pair of Billy Footwear (size 9). Leon needs a new wallet.

A Call to Action: Join the Movement - By offering these practical forms of support, Christ's Church at Moore Square embodies the spirit of National Unity Weekend. They invite the community to join them in demonstrating God's love and building bridges across racial and socioeconomic divides.

Jones says, "Donating twenty-five dollars a month may not seem like a big step but for those on the street that's a pair of shoes, new undergarments, or work jeans. The Lord warns that we are not to despise small beginnings. This weekend we are praying that thousands will agree to lend to the Lord and give to those in need. Jesus says, 'Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap by men (Luke 6:38). We believe God is good, Jesus is faithful, and we are his hands and feet on the street."
