'The People United' Drops Official Trailer Ahead of Forthcoming ReleaseThe new trailer for this cinematic diary gives viewers a unique perspective following the murder of George Floyd and the civil unrest during a pandemic-weary United States in 2020.
Told in a raw, sprawling, cinematic, first-person perspective, the trailer for The People, United delves into the personal ideals, fears and emotions as people powerfully come together during one of the more challenging years in world history. "It was a personal struggle for me to get this film done. I'm extremely proud of it. I feel that it's one of the most powerful pieces I ever done in my entire life," says Crosby Tatum, Executive Producer/Director of The People United. "As a person of color, working at a hospital during the 1st wave of the pandemic, George's murder deeply affected me in a way where the trauma of it, coupled with watching Covid-19 patients being carted off, pushed me to pick up my own camera and use my gifts to document the people and demonstrations as they occurred, despite reactions and comments from those of differing views and elected officials." He adds, "Our stories matter, and they need to be told as such." The People United features over fifty (50) on-the-spot remarks, actions, and interviews from activists, politicians, and fringe groups on different political and ideological sides during several notable public demonstrations. Including speeches and remarks from Secretary Joe Kennedy III (D), Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), family members of George Floyd, Jacob Blake, Trayvon Martin, Terrence Coleman, Eurie Stamps Sr., and others. A formal release date and preview will be announced shortly in the forthcoming days.
