Follow on Google News | ![]() "Hooray for May" free family arts day returns to The Center for Contemporary Art on May 5Hands-on art activities for kids and parents alike will take place in The Center's three art studios, outside in Pluckemin Park and its outdoor pavilion. The event will include a variety of creative projects including a Mother's Day card making station; designing your own paper airplanes; assembling your own kazoo led by our partners from New Jersey Youth Chorus; learning the art of graffiti; making art prints from the sun; working with watercolors at the watercolor resist station led by the Somerset County Cultural & Heritage Commission; and more. Members of the community are invited to use their artistic talents to help complete a community art project, the creation of a large ceramic coil pot, and are welcome to visit the three art exhibitions in The Center's galleries. Families will be treated to live performances from Wharton Arts New Jersey Youth Chorus at 2pm, and dance performances from the Tiruchitrambalam School of Dance and the Natya Mayuri Dance Ensemble at 3pm. Refreshment stations will be provided and Neapolitan wood fired pizza will be available for purchase from the Va Fa Napoli Pizza Truck.
