Political Harmony: Grunge rockstar Krist Novoselic heads up Forward Party in Washington State

SEATTLE - March 20, 2024 - PRLog -- Washington's own musical icon Krist Novoselic, co-founder of Nirvana, recently sat down with Forward Party co-founder Andrew Yang, to discuss the intersection of music and politics.

Last November, Novoselic was elected Chair of the Washington State Forward Party. A long time political activist, Novoselic supports ranked choice voting and expanded voting rights. A growing third-party choice for many voters, the Forward Party focus is on down-ballot initiatives, and providing more centrist choices to local voters.

Andrew Yang was a Democrat presidential candidate in 2016. A successful tech entrepreneur, Yang has since turned his attention to creating a third party platform with a focus on ranked choice voting, more options for centrist voters, and community problem-solving.

On Yang's podcast ForwardPod, rockstar and activist Krist Novoselic talks about his extraordinary journey from defining the sound of a generation to his pivot to local politics, the link between independent music and independent politics, and his vision for a more responsive form of government.

Novoselic points out that much of the success of Nirvana in the 1980s and 1990s was due to the hunger for music that spoke to the young people of that time. He also points out that recent shifts in the political climate have created a need for more representation that serves independent, centrist, and swing voters fairly.
