By: Positive Living Documentaries. Inc According to insights from the Hispanic Wealth Project, while Latinos exhibit increasing expertise in real estate and entrepreneurship, they lag behind in investing and wealth building. With diversifying assets emerging as a critical strategy for financial stability, this shows that financial education is lacking in the Latino community and in order to create generational financial stability, this will need to be resolved. Scarlette Joyce feels passionate that addressing this deep educational gap could substantially contribute to narrowing wealth inequality for future generations. Reflecting on her upbringing as the daughter of immigrants, she recalls the challenges her family endured and the lack of financial guidance available. "Growing up in a low income, inner-city neighborhood, I learned 'hard work equals money' but that's the wrong message. I never learned about the stock market or how to invest. This set me grossly behind as I grew in the finance industry and even fed into an imposter syndrome I had to overcome. I witnessed my father's struggle to provide for our family, with financial investments remaining elusive concepts," Rojas shares, underscoring the generational cycle of financial illiteracy prevalent in many minority communities. This unfortunate situation results in Hispanic families being relegated to the sidelines of wealth management, despite wielding growing economic influence. Scarlette emphasizes that societal opportunities are not the only factor at play. "As a community, we must challenge our negative money mindset about what we think is achievable. It took me decades to overcome my poverty mindset and the imposter syndrome that came along with it. In my head, I wasn't 'one of them' - I was just a poor Latina girl from the city. Today, boasting over 43K Instagram followers, Scarlette's influence and expertise have garnered her invitations to speak at prestigious venues including, Invesco, LPL Financial and SBDC and others. Through her advocacy, she educates her community and the finance industry on the challenges and opportunities encountered by the Latino community. Scarlette's holistic approach to wealth management integrates investment expertise with behavioral finance, providing a distinctive psychological perspective on wealth accumulation. She enables individuals and underrepresented communities to overcome money mindset barriers and achieve financial success, which sets her apart in the industry.
