Research Delivers Surprising Results

FRANKLIN, Tenn. - March 1, 2024 - PRLog -- We've seen it in movies, like The Parent Trap. A loving couple rejoices in joy as they bring home their newborn multiples, then watches their relationship crumble under the stresses of sleepless nights and crying babies. Then years later, those same identical twins switch places to fool their parents and peers.

Does it happen in real life? Multiples of America's organizational research has uncovered some surprising answers.

Multiples of America provides information about multiples and the challenges of parenting multiples through its organizational research studies. Over the span of six decades, the studies have focused on topics such as postpartum depression, marriage and multiples, early intervention services, financing college, and so much more.

Multiples of America also assists researchers, physicians, education professionals, and other multiple-birth organizations worldwide in completing research. Some of the organization's latest research partnerships seek to gather information concerning multiples and ESP, vanishing twin syndrome, and pairs of a different color.

So how much of The Parent Trap is reality? Multiples of America research found that over 80% of the parents surveyed felt having multiples increased or greatly increased the stress in their marriage, with the highest amount of stress being in the first six weeks after the multiples' birth. So, yes, relationships can begin to crumble under the stresses of sleepless nights and crying babies.

However, surprisingly, 80% of parents reported that their multiples had never pretended to be their other in class or on a date. So, according to this research, twins switching places is more likely a part of a movie plot than real life.

Multiples of America maintains an archive of all the surprising results uncovered through research conducted by the organization and a few outside researchers.
