Fort Myers Shores Fire Department Celebrates Opening of Station 82

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Dec. 11, 2023 - PRLog -- Fort Myers Shores Fire Department Station 82 has opened near the entrance of the River Hall community. Station 82 is located at 2404 River Hall Parkway.

"We are pleased to celebrate the opening of Fire Station 82, which will provide greater fire and emergency safety to the River Hall community and our fire personnel," said Fort Myers Shores Fire Department Chief Robert Rewis. "Our new fire station is extremely important to support our efforts to preserve and protect our citizens and meet the community's need for services."

The opening celebration and dedication ceremony was attended by fire officials, local government and business leaders, and community residents. It included a ceremonial Push-In, a tradition that dates back to the 1800s when firefighters had to push the horse-drawn, wagon-mounted water pumps they used back into their bays.

Construction of the new fire station began in the summer of 2022. The approximately 12,000 square foot building is a full-service fire station, providing fire suppression, emergency medical services, rescue, and basic life support. The facility includes three-bay drive through apparatus bays and space for equipment, personnel and training activities. Its design provides easy entry and exit for equipment, enhancing response capabilities within the Fort Myers Shores Fire Protection and Rescue Services District as well as providing mutual aid in the surrounding communities.

"Safety of our citizens is our highest priority, and Station 82 will improve our ability to serve residents in that area," said Chief Rewis.
