WANTAGH, N.Y. - Nov. 27, 2023 - PRLog -- Most of us have just spent some time thinking about the things we're grateful for in our lives. Some — those who have suffered adverse outcomes from medical treatment (and their families and friends) — have less to be thankful for. Medical error is still one of the main causes of preventable death and injury, here and around the world.

Healthcare and hospital systems know this, and they have policies to promote patients' safety. But it's not enough: the statistics are still bad, and getting worse.

Fortunately, we — patients and families — can do something about it. There are steps we can take and strategies we can learn to reduce the risks of health care.

That's where Pulse CPSEA comes in. For decades, Pulse's trainers and volunteers have been teaching patient safety in the community. Pulse launched the nationwide TakeCHARGE Campaign: 5 Steps to Safer Health Care (https://takecharge.care). Pulse holds conferences featuring national leaders in the field. Pulse runs three free programs each month, open to anyone online. Pulse has carried out programs for kids, minorities, and those with specific conditions. It has an online "Patient Advocate Academy" packed with videos and other resources.
