Sylvia Runyon, RP Studios Named Diverse Entrepreneur of the Year by the Jacksonville Onslow Chamber

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. - Nov. 9, 2023 - PRLog -- Local small business owner and U.S. Marine Corps veteran, Sylvia Runyon, owner, and founder of RP Studios, was named Diverse Entrepreneur of the Year 2023 by the Jacksonville Onslow Chamber of Commerce during their recent Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Day luncheon held October 4, 2023, at the Montford Point Marine Association Conference Center, 148 Brynn Marr Road, Jacksonville, NC 28546.

Selected by the Chamber's Business Diversity Council, Runyon's nomination touted her goal of opening a brick-and-mortar studio to provide a professional atmosphere for her clients as well as colleagues in the photography, videography, and podcasting industries. She hosts several events such as coworking sessions and prayer roundtables for small business owners and rents the space for creatives to use as their own. Sylvia serves as the Chamber's official photographer and is an active member of the Business Diversity Council where she was instrumental in the creation of the chamber's Hispanic Heritage Month Festival. To honor her fellow servicemembers, every Veterans Day she opens the doors of RP Studios for veterans to receive free headshots.

Eligibility criteria for the Diverse Entrepreneur of the Year 2023 award included representation of: Women, African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Native Americans, Asian Pacific Americans, Subcontinent Asian Americans, and Disabled.

Sylvia Runyon is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who honed her Combat Camera photography skills to specialize in studio and natural light portrait photography, women's portraits, professional business headshots, personal branding photography, high school seniors, and families. She is certified through the Defense Information School in Maryland and continuously evolves her portraiture style. Runyon is a member of the Professional Photographers of America, North Carolina Chapter, and the Jacksonville Onslow Chamber of Commerce.
