Cheseboro Joins Powell in Flipping on Trump - As Predicted

Most Recent Blow For Trump; Likely to Induce Other Defendants to Plead
WASHINGTON - Oct. 20, 2023 - PRLog -- To avoid the very real possibility of spending much of his golden years behind bars and broke, Kenneth Chesebro has joined his co-defendant Sidney Powell, in flipping on former president Donald Trump.

In return for no prison time and only five years on probation, Cheseboro and Powell, both close confidants of Trump, will provide testimony which could prove devastating because it could provide direct rather than inferential testimony about the key element of Trump's intent, says public interest law professor John Banzhaf.

Banzhaf has been predicting for months that at least one of these two early-trial defendants would flip, and yesterday predicted that Cheseboro would join Powell in turning on Trump.  In an earlier legal analysis, he spelled out the many reasons why they would have such a strong incentive take a deal.  Here's a bit of it.

Because he also just lost a key motion, the pressure on Chesebro to follow Powell's example in even stronger, says Banzhaf, who played a major role in scuttling Hunter Biden's plea deal, and whose memo also triggered the government's successful legal action against the major tobacco companies.  It was his complaint which first triggered the proceeding against Trump:

IPowell's defection was a major blow to Trump and his defense in the Georgia trial, and may encourage others charged in that case to come forward, he predicts.

It may even become a race to settle, says Banzhaf, since those who come forward earliest almost always get the best deal.  As defense lawyers know well, the pigs who get to the trough first get the most.   @profbanzhaf
