Naegleria fowleri and Exposure Risks to the Brain-Eating Ameba Discussed in New Online Video

The IAQ Video Network releases another educational production about an important environmental, health and safety (EHS) topic.

PHOENIX - Oct. 15, 2023 - PRLog -- The IAQ Video Network and Cochrane & Associates announced the release of their latest educational video today. Their newest production discusses Naegleria fowleri, an ameba that lives in soil and warm freshwater, such as in lakes and hot springs.

"Naegleria fowleri is commonly called the brain-eating ameba because it can cause a brain infection known as primary amebic meningoencephalitis or PAM," said Paul Cochrane, President of Cochrane & Associates and the IAQ Video Network. "This can occur when water containing the ameba goes up the nose. While these infections are rare, they are also almost always fatal. Just in the last few months, there have been several high-profile cases. We hope this new video helps to shed some light on Naegleria fowleri and ways people can mitigate their exposure risks."

This video was sponsored by a number of organizations and leading industry professionals that work to protect and enhance the public's health and safety. Sponsors include EMSL Analytical, LA Testing, Clark Seif Clark, Zimmetry Environmental, CTSI and Healthy Indoors Magazine to name a few.
