Historically Black College Summit Returns to Holman UMC

LOS ANGELES - Oct. 11, 2023 - PRLog -- On Tuesday, October 25, at 5:00 o'clock, Holman United Methodist Church will welcome representatives of historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and several hundred students seeking early admission. The HBCU Summit began in 2011. Interrupted only by the COVID-19 pandemic, it has run continuously ever since. In October 2022, the Summit returned to Holman with limitations (masking, restricted numbers, outdoor exhibits). This year, it's back in full force.

Several schools offer on-site admissions and fee waivers to prospective students. A few schools accept high school juniors. High school juniors and seniors are encouraged to bring at least five copies of their unofficial transcripts as well as SAT/ACT scores. Community college students should bring transcripts reflecting 30 transferable units.

Participating schools that honor the California Community Colleges Transfer Guarantee Pathway to HBCU include Stillman College, Bowie State, Arkansas Baptist  College, Harris Stowe State University, Fisk University, Fort Valley State, Clark Atlanta University, Florida Memorial University, Lincoln University, Dillard University, Edward Waters College, Alabama State University, Talladega College, Voorhees University, Grambling State University, Lame College, Morehouse College, Wiley College, Shaw College, Huston Tillotson University and Hampton University. Non-partner schools Southern University, Howard University, and Florida A & M University will be represented by alumni.
