Filipino American Filmmaker Presents Hometown Screening at San Diego Filipino Film Festival

In a recent interview with FOX5, Jonathan expressed their gratitude and excitement for being selected to participate in the San Diego Filipino Film Festival. "This festival is so important because there is a huge Filipino American demographic and community in San Diego," he said. "There is so much Filipino cinema that has to be showcased and we have so much good work so it's great that we have this big festival."

Jonathan De Guzman II is a gay, Filipino American director and writer from San Diego, based in Los Angeles, CA. His directorial projects have screened at festivals including Asian American International Film Festival, DC Asian Pacific American Film Festival, and San Diego Filipino Film Festival. His thesis short, The Perfect Post, was awarded Best Picture and Best Screenplay of 2021 from the University of California, Irvine. Inspired by Gen Z culture and his community, Jonathan aims to tell comedic and witty stories that spotlight cool and relatable AANHPI individuals.
