Follow on Google News | Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women USA Works To Locate Two Oregon WomenBy: Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women USA Clara Sheoships was last seen on July 19th, 2023 at her sister's home in Mission, Oregon, on the Umatilla reservation. She simply disappeared after being seen there, and some time later a missing persons report was filed. Several relatives are greatly concerned for her, because to disappear like this and be completely out of contact is outside of her nature. There are more details which I will leave at the discretion of the family to provide. Her case number with Umatilla PD is 23-2197. LouAnn Marie Aiken was residing in Portland far from her home community at Turtle Mountain, North Dakota, when her family noticed she was no longer making contact around April 15th, 2023. Like Clara, it was outside of her normal behavior to not contact her family. She has always found a way to keep in touch. She has now been missing for four months, and no leads have come in, and the Aiken family is disheartened by the lack of police response. The Portland Police Bureau case number for LouAnn is 23-257826. Both of these families are searching for their loved one. These cases have not been publicized to the media much yet, but MMIWUSA aims to help change this if you are willing to listen. Oregon has a relatively high number of missing Indigenous People compared to many other states, and many cases are sitting unsolved. There is plenty to be discussed about things like reporting on the issue of MMIP, including the issues that come with the Oregon Missing Persons site. These women deserve to have their stories told, their families deserve to be heard, and they deserve to be on the radar of the public as does every other missing native person from Oregon and beyond. https://mmiwusa.org/ End
