Follow on Google News | Derek Schmitz advocacy efforts now rebranded "Derek Schmitz: Advocacy"By: Derek Schmitz: Advocacy "After thorough discussions with the people closest to me and my advisors (including my amazing therapist and mentors), I realized I needed to create, set, and stick to firm boundaries regarding work. Over the last few months, I've been working to achieve that goal, first starting small by setting and holding myself to working hours, then creating strict to-do lists, and now, drawing the ultimate boundary for my self-protection and preservation," They continued, "I want to do this work for the rest of my life, and I've come to realize that, in order to make that happen, I have to put myself and my needs at the forefront. This change may not seem monumental. On the outside, it looks incredibly small. However, to me, this is huge. I consider it to be the culmination of my efforts over the last few months to truly prioritize myself. So, today, I am celebrating. I'm celebrating that I have created the space for myself to have peace while continuing what I love. This effort took three months, sweat, and tears, but it's here, and I can't wait to begin providing services under my new, dedicated advocacy arm." Additionally today, Derek launches their individual advocacy program. This program's goal is simple: provide advocacy for individual disabled people. For a standard fee of $15 per hour, Derek will work with any individual who feels lost in where to begin to get their accommodations or who needs help getting set up in disability support systems in the United States. Information regarding Derek's services and experience can be found on the Derek Schmitz: Advocacy homepage at dsadvocacy.wordpress.com. To connect directly regarding advocacy, please email advocacy@derekschmitz.com. Also, follow their advocacy efforts both on Twitter/X and Instagram at @ds_advocacy. All three current versions of the DS logos will continue to be used interchangeably throughout the brand, with the red and beige DS-only logo used to indicate an overarching effort, the DS: Derek Schmitz logo being used in Derek's personal efforts and writing, and the new DS: Advocacy logo serving advocacy efforts.
