Savannah Philharmonic Returns to The Lucas with Guest Conductor Kellen Gray this Saturday

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Aug. 24, 2023 - PRLog -- Now in their 15^th Season, the Savannah Philharmonic opens early with an August concert led by guest conductor Kellen Gray of the Charleston Symphony and Royal Scottish National Orchestra. The program, titled "The Genius of Mozart," features Mozart's Symphony No. 36 and Gran Partita, as well as Jose Mauricio Nunes-Garcia's Overture in D, and will be held at the Lucas Theatre for the Arts.

"As we kick off the 15th Anniversary Season of the Savannah Philharmonic, we are very excited to present the music of Nunes-Garcia and Mozart. There is no doubt that Mozart's Gran Partita is one of the most important pieces in the history of classical music," states Music and Artistic Director Keitaro Harada. "It is not only an excellent opportunity to showcase the beautiful wind colors of our SavPhil musicians, but also a great pleasure to welcome Maestro Kellen Gray to the Lucas Theatre."

No stranger to Savannah and a native of South Carolina, Gray's conducting endeavors include performances across the country and around the globe. He is also the founder and curator of the Charleston Symphony's Project Aurora, a programming and performance initiative dedicated to celebrating African American arts and culture through meaningful and impactful music.
