HALIFAX, Nova Scotia - Aug. 11, 2023 - PRLog -- Immigration Minister Marc Miller of IRCC announces new measures to expedite family reunification for those affected by COVID-19 travel restrictions. Effective immediately, the government will prioritize the processing of applications from individuals who have been separated from their immediate family members due to border closures. These measures will allow for faster reunification of families and alleviate the emotional and financial burden experienced by many during these challenging times.

Minister Miller also emphasizes the importance of reuniting Canadian citizens and permanent residents with their loved ones, particularly those who are facing exceptional circumstances. As part of these new measures, the government will expedite the processing of spousal sponsorship applications and facilitate the entry of immediate family members.

To further streamline the process, the IRCC has launched a dedicated email address to ensure that applications from affected individuals receive prompt attention. This email address will enable individuals to provide detailed information about their situation and any unique circumstances they may be facing. The government is committed to responding to these inquiries within 48 hours.

In addition, the government is exploring options to expand the pilot program for the electronic submission of applications, allowing for faster processing times and reducing the need for individuals to submit physical documents during the pandemic.
