Demand for safety training considerably increased after critical SodM report

AMSTERDAM - July 4, 2023 - PRLog -- FMTC, which specializes in providing safety training for, among others, the oil & gas sector and industry, saw the demand for safety training increase sharply in the first six months after the publication of a critical report by the State Supervision of Mines (SodM). This report was published on 20 January following a gas explosion in Zoetermeer in 2022.

The SodM report found that the engineers had made assessment errors, but also that the grid operator "showed insufficient responsibility and had insufficiently secured the preconditions to prevent such an incident". SodM thinks that this may also be the case with other network operators, and wants everyone in the gas sector to be aware of the risks and therefore to be extra alert.

"As a result of the firm conclusions of this report, we see that there is not only a great demand for our specific training courses for technical personnel, but also for our awareness training courses," says Michel Hoogervorst, director of FMTC. "Demand is also increasing among middle management and management. There is a renewed awareness that safety and a safe working environment are not only a matter for the technical staff, but concern the entire company. After all, corporate culture is imposed and facilitated from above, and is therefore an important part of our training."
