Hollywood stated that it came to his attention that the referee had ref Machado last 18 fights. Hollywood stated "I thought that was unfair. My whole family, friends and almost my whole city had ordered that fight. Everyone was wondering why it was stopped. I feel that referees should be punished for stopping a fight prematurely. I know what I signed up for. How dare he stop a fight because he thought I was hurt. I was saving myself for the later rounds. I was getting him tried. This fight has affected me so much that I have not been able to sleep. I know I can beat him. I'll bet my whole purse on it".
