Follow on Google News | Listening Room Monthly Film Series Announces Second QuarterJuly, August and September Showcase Films on Music Pioneers, Fine Artists and Women in Science
By: Henry Turner Jr. Listening Room Museum Foundation Saturday, July 29 documentary feature is "Still Rockin" - The Story of Bill Haley and his Comets." It debuted at the Listening Room Film Festival in December and was produced by Bertie Higgins with Andre Champagne and directed by Julian Higgins. Archival footage includes interviews and performances and how the band's legacy lives on today. Saturday, August 19 documentary is "Emphasis on Art" about Fine Artists. It includes interviews architect and artist Frank Gehry, politician Bobby Shriver, contemporary mixed media artist Tony Berlant and conceptual artist John Baldessari. It was produced by Marcia Groff and Tyke Caravelli. Saturday, September 30's film is "Who Said You Can't - African American Women in Science." This documentary focuses on women who were pioneers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), in Baton Rouge, New Orleans and at NASA. The film was produced by Gisele Haralson. Each film will be followed by an acoustic performance by Henry Turner Jr. More films will be announced quarterly.
