But it's important to note that Amarillo operates on a majority voting system and a candidate must secure more than 50% of the total votes to be declared the winner. With 111,967 registered voters in Amarillo, only 21,246 voted in the May elections. Historically, an even smaller percentage of voters come back for a runoff and approximately 6,000 voters are expected to vote in the runoff. Make your voice heard, Amarillo!
