Central Island Healthcare wraps up a wild week of Nursing Home Week Celebrations

PLAINVIEW, N.Y. - June 8, 2023 - PRLog -- The second week of May is traditionally used to celebrate National Skilled Nursing Care Week (NSNCW), also known as Nursing Home Week. Central Island Healthcare made sure not to disappoint and used various methods throughout the week to show appreciation to our Staff and Residents who make us who we are.

For our residents, we started the week with Sweet Cups for Sweet Mothers, where we distributed sweet karma cups of elegant pies to our mothers. We had a Tea Party Social, with tea tastings with high tea sandwiches. Tuesday featured the always popular Taco Tuesday. Ballpark Style soft pretzels were the treat that accompanied our Take Me Out to the Ballpark baseball-themed day, and we closed out the week with Banana Split ice cream distributed to all.

For our dedicated staff, the week featured being served hot breakfast from Family Bagel of Plainview, Life Savers for Life Savers, a complimentary visit from the local ice cream truck to help keep staff cool during their breaks, a special lunch of Heroes for Heroes, and giveaways of T-shirts, gift bags, and lunch coolers.

The week also featured a special in-house edition of Family Feud, as well as our Staff Award Ceremony held in our external courtyard. This ceremony gave us the opportunity to recognize some staff members for their outstanding achievements.

"Nursing Home Week is a wonderful time of year that allows us to celebrate the hard work and dedication of our outstanding staff. It is also an opportunity to celebrate our residents and patients who currently reside in a skilled nursing facility and who make coming to work such a pleasure for all of us. It's a week of expressing thanks to everyone all around," said Executive Director Michael Ostreicher.
