Sweeping Debut Novel Ekaterina Weaves Its Tale Across Eight Decades of History

PAWTUCKET, R.I. - June 6, 2023 - PRLog -- Ekaterina is the saga of a precocious child who matures into a strong-willed, beautiful, and talented White Russian emigree and fights for the freedom to live her own life amidst war, bigotry, and personal loss. Challenged from the moment of her birth, Ekaterina travels from Russia to China to the Philippines and eventually the United States. At each step of her journey, she alternates between victim and heroine but remains a perpetual foreigner in strange lands as banishment, an unplanned child, men – both kind and cruel – death, war, communism, and civil rights consume her.

According to author Kathleen Pesta (Spinning Through Warm Air and Fire in the Sky), "Ekaterina will hold your heart captive from the moment you meet her… Long after you put this book down, Ekaterina's resilience will continue to inspire you. Ekaterina is a heroine for the ages."

Based on a true story from the author's family history, Ekaterina's tale is one of tragedy and triumph within the sweeping global political, military, and social changes of the last century. At its core, Ekaterina is a story of loyalty, love, and survival.

On Saturday, June 17, Thomas will be celebrating the release of the novel at the Kingston Congregational Church, 2610 Kingstown Road, Kingston, RI, across from the main entrance to the University of Rhode Island. This special event is free and open to the public.

Thomas H. Brillat has been a naval officer, life insurance rep, coastal planner, commercial seaport harbormaster, Rainbow salesman, square-rig sailor, oral storyteller, air-freight manager, non-profit executive, adult educator, and maritime museum professional. Ekaterina is his first novel.

Ekaterina is available to purchase through select bookstores and gift shops, major online retailers, and through the publisher at http://www.StillwaterPress.com. In addition, hand-signed copies are available from the author.
