LOS ANGELES - May 3, 2023 - PRLog -- China's mobile gaming market is predicted to exceed USD 50 billion by 2028, with a double-digit CAGR during 2023-2028, per Makreo Research. However, game licensing restrictions, including those on Tencent's games, may hamper the market's growth in 2023. The rise of mini-games played directly within mobile apps like WeChat is driving adoption, and puzzle games and MOBAs are the most popular genres. The report also covers the market's impact on the economy and player demographics.

A Growing Number of Players
The greatest gaming market in the world is in China, where there are many gamers. In China, mobile games emerged from the ashes of console gaming, which were outlawed by the government from 2005 until 2015.

Puzzles are Popular among Female Gamers
Puzzle games and MOBAs were the two most popular mobile gaming genres in China. Female gamers choose puzzle games 52% of the time, while male gamers prefer MOBAs 45% of the time.

Metaverse in Gaming
The Metaverse, which was primarily developed to employ emerging technologies like VR, AR, and various mobile apps, is a significant component of the gaming industry's future. Because it will offer experiences that can bring our real-life people into our gaming environment, it will also have an impact on how we engage with one another online.

  • Previously in 2019, children could play video games during daylight hours for an hour and a half per day on weekdays and for three hours on weekends and public holidays. Gaming companies were prohibited from offering children online gaming services outside of these hours.
  • In China, it is mandatory for developer to obtain a gaming license for games that features in-app purchase monetization and All pay-to-play (premium) mobile games.
