The UK is on a promising path to dramatic growth in green jobs

This could likewise generate an estimated £52 billion in GDP growth; create more than 850,000 jobs in bus/tram operation, construction, manufacturing, and supply chain; and help to support some 1.8 million existing and new jobs. Such jobs could be a huge help in encouraging a greener way of life, and possibly also utilising advanced renewable energy and green technologies that could emerge in the UK in the same timeline.

The UK government has actually already agreed to invest £30 million into green jobs and sustainable tech through a recent grant award.
