POPLAR GROVE, Ill. - April 11, 2023 - PRLog -- "Not Your Parents' Fairy Tales: Classic Stories Reimagined" is a new collection of stories from  publisher Tales of Wonder and Dread. It combines new retellings and interpretations of fairy tales along with the inspiration for those stories. It's a unique collection from Tales of Wonder and Dread because generally TOWAD publishes horror, science fiction and macabre books. The has some horror and one piece that lands in science fiction territory, but a lot qualifies closer to fantasy.

C. Mulhare and two by Gary Hill. The original tales that inspired the new Fairy Tales are also included in the book." The new stories in the collection are: "Beauty in a Coma"  "The Warlock Who Cursed a Castle" and "Brother Swanwing" by  R. C. Mulhare along with "A Visit with Grandmother" and "The Quest of Alice" by Gary Hill.

The inspiration section of the book includes: "Sleeping Beauty" (1817),  " The Youth Who Could Not Shiver and Could Not Shake" (1812) and "The Six Swans" (1812) by The Brothers Grimm along with By The Brothers Grimm, "Little Red Riding Hood" (1917), "The Willows" By Algernon Blackwood (1907), "The Adventures of Pinocchio" (1882) by Carlo Collodi  and "The Fate of the Children of Lir" 1891).

Tales of Wonder and Dread Publishing was founded in 2018. The name refers to science fiction ("wonder"" and horror ("dread"). Those books, "A Girl's Gotta Eat" and "Old Black Water," blend genres like urban fantasy, horror, action adventure and more.

Other books from TOWAD have included three book length stories from Gary Hill: "Wizard Song" (science fiction/space opera), "The Homestead" (home invasion horror) and "It Ends in the Graveyard" (creature feature horror).  Two collections of short works from Hill have  been released: "Strange Realities" and "Relics, Remnants and Artifacts."
