Phoenix-based video artist Casey Farina presents a screening of four innovative experimental films that explore the themes of movement, time, and nature. The event will be screened in the Large Theater at the recently opened ASU Media and Immersive eXperience (MIX) Center in Mesa, Arizona.

The unticketed event, which is open to all, will start at 7:30 PM on April 28th and features an array of creative talents: video artist and composer Casey Farina, choreographers Mary Fitzgerald, Nicole Bradley Browning, and Eileen Standley, filmmaker Dmitri von Klein, and composers Daniel Lentz and Doug Nottingham. The event will feature a live performance of the collaborative film "I Am Nature," an experimental animation from Casey Farina with music composed by Daniel Lentz and arranged for marimba quartet by ASU professor emeritus J.B. Smith performed by Smith, Brett Reed, Robert Esler, and Douglas Nottingham.

The films that will be screened:
  • Vestiges - a collaborative film that uses dance, cinematography, and animation to explore the fleeting nature of movement. Farina, Fitzgerald, Standley, von Klein
  • Keeping Time - an animated film that offers a meditative exploration of cyclical structures and the passage of time. Farina
  • Timeless Land - a dance-for-film work that pays tribute to the unspoiled beauty of the high New Mexico desert. Fitzgerald, Browning, von Klein, Nottingham
  • I Am Nature - an experimental animation created using generative systems. The music was created in reaction to the Jackson Pollock response to the question "Do you work from nature?" Pollock responded, "I Am Nature." Farina, Lentz, Smith, Nottingham, Reed, Esler

The event's presenter, Casey Farina, invites film enthusiasts, music aficionados, and anyone interested in the cutting edge of art and technology to experience this rare opportunity to witness some of the most innovative works in animation, dance, and music.
