Corporate Donations to Black Lives Matter Now Total $70 Billion

WASHINGTON - March 11, 2023 - PRLog -- The murder of George Floyd on May 25, 2020 sparked a global movement for racial equity. Protests erupted across the world pleading for justice and the legitimization of the rights of Black people. Popularly referred to as the Black Lives Matter (BLM) Movement, this outpouring of support dominated the American national conversation as millions of Americans demanded accountability and an end to racial injustice. BLM demonstrations took place in 4,446 cities from May 25, 2020 to November 18, 2020.

We are proud to have been first to calculate and publish accurate, well documented estimates for total BLM donations. In a June 10 Black Enterprise magazine article, Creative Investment Research announced that donations totaled $1.678 billion. As of Sunday, March 12, 2023, 316 corporations have pledged $71.377 billion for BLM causes. We estimate disbursement has started on $26.164 billion, or 36% of the total pledged.
